Welcome to the Cutting Edge
The Emerging Technologies Studio is located in room 346 of Hopkins Hall. It is a classroom and lab space that is open to all faculty, staff, and graduate students in the Division of Arts and Humanities. Undergraduate students and non-Arts graduate students are granted access to the facilities on a per-quarter basis if they are enrolled in a class which is meeting in the ETS Classroom.
The ETS has 43 Apple Macintosh computers available. All machines run Mac OS X 10.5.6 and have either PowerPC G5 or Intel Core 2 Duo processors. There are three flatbed scanners and one slide scanner available. Black & White printing is offered at a cost of $0.10 per page and color printing costs $0.50 per page.
New this year - the ETS lab now features two dedicated video editing stations enclosed in a partitioned area for privacy. Each station is equipped with a 8-Core Mac Pro, dual 22" widescreen displays, a Sony DV editing deck, and Blu-Ray High Definition DVD burning. These stations are available for all faculty, staff, and graduate students. Access will be granted to undergraduates by the request of a faculty member or instructor.
