The College of Engineering academic departments and research centers historically had server rooms and small data centers housed in a wide variety of locations. ETS is working to reduce the number of server rooms/data centers the College of Engineering has to support, while increasing the reliability and security of the resources available to our students, faculty and staff. Primary shared computing resources are now located in the State of Ohio Computing Center (SOCC). This data center meets S4 data controls, and provides a tier III capable environment, as well as physical compliance to EAR/ITAR/DFARS to support research computing requirements. Overall floor space has been reduced and ongoing hardware maintenance improved. ETS continues to support a limited number of server rooms on main campus where direct access is needed by researchers and others in real time. These facilities are also designed to meet appropriate environmental and security requirements.
