The College of Engineering has been working to reduce the number of server rooms/data centers in the college to improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance costs while increasing the reliability and security of the resources available to our students, faculty and staff.
Primary shared computing resources are now located in the State of Ohio Computing Center (SOCC). This data center meets Ohio State University "restricted" (S4) data controls, provides a tier III capable environment, as well as physical compliance to EAR/ITAR/DFARS to support controlled research computing requirements. Overall floor space has been reduced and ongoing hardware maintenance improved.
Research Computing and Research Hosting
ETS continues to support a limited number of server rooms on main campus where direct access is needed by researchers and others in real time. These facilities are designed to meet appropriate university environmental and security requirements. If you are interested in having rack mounted equipment hosted in one of our research support capable machine rooms, please contact ETS support (https://ets.osu.edu/services/research-computing-compliance) to be connected to the Research Computing support team.
