What is the 'Key Server'?
The Division of Arts and Humanities runs the Sassafras KeyServer Software on all lab and some faculty and staff computers. The KeyServer, in its' most basic form, allows the Division to purchase a minimum amount of licenses for each software package that we use for our faculty, staff, and students. We allocate just enough licenses to provide for the maximum concurrent use of each package, allowing us to save thousands of dollars every year in licensing costs. This leaves money otherwise wasted on licensing leftover to upgrade computer hardware and provide a larger variety of software.
